NATCHEZ — Two tips from concerned residents helped Natchez police capture two men reportedly connected to a rash of recent vehicle burglaries.
Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford said Jeffrey D. Hartley Jr., 19, 256 Morgantown Road, and Kenneth John Roberts II, 21, 2044 Viking St., Vidalia, are each facing at least eight counts of burglary.
Hartley and Roberts are believed to be responsible for burglaries last week in the areas of Park Place, Somerset Drive, Jefferson Davis Boulevard and John Glenn Avenue.
Nine burglaries were reported Friday morning, and additional burglaries have been reported since then, Ford said.
A member of the public alerted police to a Facebook post by one of the men reportedly linking him to the crime, Ford said.
A video of one of the suspects shows him walking to cars and pulling on the door handles. Ford said the suspects were targeting vehicles with unlocked doors.
“We would like to thank the citizens for doing an outstanding job of reporting crimes they saw and the other agencies for assisting us,” he said.
Officers were able to recover items stolen from vehicles and are still investigating the burglaries in hopes of recovering more items.
Anyone with information about the vehicle burglaries should contact Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.

Hartley and Roberts were in custody Tuesday evening but had not been formally charged.
