NATCHEZ — A Chicago man is in stable condition after being shot in a drive-by shooting on Beaumont Street Friday.
Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford said Savoy Jones, 37, told police he was standing on the street when someone in a black car drove by and fired and shot at approximately 6 p.m.
The bullet hit Jones in the right arm, Ford said, and then traveled upward, where it lodged behind Jones’ right ear.
Jones was airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La.
“As far as I know, he is in stable condition now,” Ford said.
Ford said Jones is from Chicago, where he has a warrant out for his arrest.
Police do not have a suspect in the shooting, Ford said.
“Right now, we just aren’t getting anyone who is talking to us,” he said.
