MONROE — Ferriday head coach Dwight Woods found himself in an early hole in his debut on the Trojan’s sideline.
But down 28-0, Woods said he and the kids didn’t panic.
“We never stopped believing,” Woods said. “We knew we had the ability to come back, and I had been preaching to them we could come back no matter what. All during the summer we began believing nobody could beat us. The kids were upbeat and never stopped believing. We put ourselves in that hole, turning the ball over five times.”
The positive attitudes led to positive plays on the field and the Trojans reeled off 30 unanswered points to clinch a 30-28 victory.
“It is always nice to start with a win and we really needed this one,” Woods said. “Our schedule is tough and we need those power points. Its feels great to come from behind and show that we can do that.”
Ronald Davis scored twice for the Trojans, Ja’Shon Foster added a touchdown and Ronald Williams also found the end zone for Ferriday.
“It was a good night, a good team effort,” Woods said.
