FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man was arrested Friday charged with attempted second-degree murder after the victim showed up in the emergency room.
The crime marked the second reported shooting in Ferriday in a week.
Acting Ferriday Chief of Police Margaret Lawrence said police received a call from Merit Health Natchez at approximately 3 a.m. Friday to alert the police of a gunshot victim at the hospital.
The victim fingered the shooter as Patrick Sha’vonn Neal, 20, 231 Washington Heights, Ferriday.
Neal was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial numbers and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
In addition, Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies added a probation hold on Neal who was sentenced to three years probation for illegal possession of stolen goods in 2014.
The victim, Lawrence said, had received minor injuries to the wrist. Lawrence said officers were told the shooting happened on 10th Street in Ferriday.
Lawrence said the event was still under investigation.
