CLAYTON — Three Clayton men were arrested Tuesday on drug charges.

Javonte G. Williams, 21, and Jeremy D. Williams, 26, both of 336 U.S. 900, Clayton, and Brandon Thompson, 22, 122 Miranda Ave., Clayton, were arrested on charges of possession of a schedule I substance with intent.

Vernon Stevens, public information officer for the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office, said a parole officer had come to do a parole check on Javonte and Jeremy Williams. A narcotics officer, Stevens said, was helping him in the check.

“While they (were) doing that they noticed the drugs so they were arrested on these additional charges,” Stevens said.

Stevens said Thompson “just happened to be there” and had an active warrant.

Stevens said the drugs were in plain sight, and they were not selling the drugs at the time.

“The quantity they had on them was enough to be considered for distribution,” Stevens said.

Javonte G. Williams was also charged with a probation and parole hold violation and a bench warrant for failure to appear for sentence for illegal possession of stolen things. Jeremy D. Williams was also charged with obstruction of justice and probation and parole hold violation.

Thompson had an additional charge of a bench warrant for failure to pay fines for possession of marijuana.
