FERRIDAY — Two men were hospitalized Monday night after one of them fired a gun and wound up shooting them both.
Ferriday police responded to a shots fired call in the 400 block of 10th Street and discovered Julius Bates and Teddy Taylor suffering from gunshot wounds.
The men alleged they were shot walking down the street. After further questioning by police, however, Bates reportedly admitted he was in possession of a gun and had accidentally discharged it, striking himself in the right leg and Taylor in the left foot.
Bates also reportedly admitted to owning a bag of suspected marijuana found at the scene.
Taylor was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Alexandria, and Bates was treated locally at Riverland Medical Center.
Bates was arrested on a bench warrant following the incident but no other charges had been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
