Patten wins sheriff’s runoff; Lewis wins chancery clerk

NATCHEZ — Travis Patten beat Randy Freeman in the Democratic primary runoff for Adams County sheriff with 56.4 percent of the vote. Patten gained 4,880 votes to Freeman’s 3,767 votes. Patten will face independent candidate Elvis Prater in the general election.
Brandi Lewis beat Joe Murray for Adams County chancery clerk with 53 percent of the vote. Lewis got 4,533 votes to Murray’s 4,015 votes. With no contender in the general election, Lewis will become the county’s next chancery clerk.
Vote totals are unofficial and do not include 453 absentee ballots cast for the Democratic primary runoff.
