natchez — A proposal concerning T-Mobile was struck off the agenda at a special Natchez-Adams County School Board meeting Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting was called to discuss personnel issues.
However, at the end of the meeting, the board went into executive session to discuss pending litigation.
Board President Tim Blalock and Superintendent Frederick Hill refused to discuss what litigation the session involved.
The T-Mobile proposal was aimed at the Natchez Early College Academy. The company proposed giving the school access to some laptops, and the school would use the company’s services.
However, after further research, Hill said his office found T-Mobile does not have a tower in the area and the program would not work.
“It’s not what we need,” he said after the meeting.
Hill said the school was not going to proceed with the proposal and the item was taken off the agenda.
Board Member Cynthia Smith was absent from the meeting.
The school board approved an application for an expert citizen licensure in addition to the three applications it approved last week.
An expert citizen licensure allows someone with knowledge in an area to have a year for training in a school district. During this year, the person in question will work and train in the district.
Wright moved to accept the application and offer of employment. Newsome seconded, and it passed 4-0.
