NATCHEZ — General Surgeon Christopher Martin has joined the medical staff of Merit Health Natchez.

Martin is returning to his hometown of Natchez with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two children.

A graduate of Cathedral High School and The University of Mississippi, Martin received his Doctorate of Medicine in 2009 from The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.  He completed his residency in General Surgery at Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans and is a resident member of the American College of Surgeons.

Prior to attending medical school, he taught algebra and American History and served as assistant basketball and golf coaches at Cathedral High School in Natchez.

Martin’s office will be located at The Doctor’s Pavilion, 46 Sgt. Prentiss Drive, Suite 100.  His practice will cover a variety of surgical procedures, from minimally invasive colon surgery to gallbladder and appendix removal, as well as biopsies, hernia repair and much more.

Martin said he is pleased to be returning home and looks forward to providing his children with the same quality of life he experienced growing up in Natchez.

“Elizabeth and I have been fortunate to explore other opportunities available, both in my profession and hers as an attorney.  We just kept being drawn back to Natchez,” he said.

“I look forward to reconnecting with friends and family and joining a medical staff of physicians I highly respect.  It will be my privilege and honor to provide surgical services to patients in this area.”

Merit Health Natchez and Merit Health Natchez—Community Campus Chief Executive Officer Eric Robinson said the hospital is extremely pleased to add Martin its medical staff.

“We have been looking forward to his arrival for quite some time, and we know he and his family will be a great addition to our community,” Robinson said.
