Natchez Little Theater, lemonade stand highlight weekend

NATCHEZ — A classic play, fundraising, a donation drive and a generous helping of Natchez’s culinary delights will make this weekend worth remembering.

The weather this weekend will be hot with highs Friday, Saturday and Sunday hovering around 96 degrees and lows in the mid 70s.

Friday and Saturday will be partly sunny, with chances of thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday.

Natchez Little Theatre presents “Peter Pan”

Follow the second star to the right and straight on to The Natchez Little Theatre where the Summer Youth Workshop will put on a performance of Walt Disney’s “Peter Pan.”

Today the theater will host a preview performance at 7 p.m. Other performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

8th Annual Mae and Friends Lemonade Stand

To cool off with a classic summer treat, head down to the Natchez Convention Center for the 8th Annual Mae and Friends Lemonade Stand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

The event began eight years ago when Mae Holyoak and some of her friends wanted to raise money for the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society.

“We do this every year,” Ginna Holyoak, Mae’s mother and event organizer, said.

All proceeds go to the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society. Baked goods, lemonade, bowls from Natchez Pottery and other items will be available for purchase. A raffle will also take place.

Natchez Food and Wine Festival

The 2015 Natchez Food and Wine Festival opens Friday at the Natchez Convention Center and lasts until Sunday.

On Friday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. festivities get under way with the Tastings Along the River at the Natchez Convention Center. Guests are treated to a sampling of the best food and wine Natchez has to offer.

The rest of this year’s program contains a mixture of historic and contemporary food, served by some of the state’s best chefs, such as Robert St. John and Regina Charboneau.

And, to wash it all down, guests can enjoy some of the finest craft beers and wines in Natchez.

Minorville Jubilee

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church will host the Minorville Jubilee, benefiting the Natchez Children’s Home services.

The event, located in the church’s parking lot, will accept donations for the Natchez Children’s Home Thrift Store.

Acceptable items include furniture, books, toys, clothing, electronics, home décor and other gently used items.
