FERRIDAY — The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries made an arrest Thursday in connection with a May boat chase.

Adam Einck, public information officer for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, said an agent was called in to the Richard K. Yancey Wildlife Management Area near Ferriday on Thursday because of a complaint about illegal hunting activity.

When the agent arrived, he found Hartwell Tiffee, 34, of 679 U.S. 907, Monterey.

“He got out there, found the guy that was responsible, ran his license and he had an arrest warrant,” Einck said.

The warrant stems from an incident May 25 on Black River Lake in Monterey. Einck said Tiffee was allegedly operating a jet ski in a careless manner.

When agents tried to stop him on May 25, Einck said he refused to stop. Tiffee then allegedly tried to ram his jet ski into an agent’s boat.

The agent reversed to get out of the way and Einck said Tiffee escaped.

On Thursday, Tiffee was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle upon a peace officer, failure to comply with personal flotation device regulations, flight from an officer and reckless operation of a vehicle and booked into the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
