VIDALIA — One incident turned into another for a Concordia Parish Sheriff’s officer Tuesday.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Vernon Stevens said an officer was in the process of questioning someone who allegedly was going door to door asking people for money when another person — Jamie Johnson, 20, of 486 Raymond Smith Road, Vidalia — approached.
Stevens said the officer advised her several times to leave the scene, but Johnson refused to leave.
“She kept interfering with him trying to arrest the other man,” Stevens said.
Stevens said when the officer went to handcuff her, Johnson pulled away, ran and slipped out of the handcuffs.
The officer said when he tried to stop her she hit him in the left side of the chest with the handcuffs.
Stevens said the officer managed to subdue Johnson before two other officers had arrived on the scene.
Johnson was charged with resisting an officer with force/violence, battery of a police officer, interference with a law officer and public intimidation.
