Burns honored by journal as one of Top 50 under 40

JACKSON— Carter Burns, senior attorney for the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) Right-of-Way Division, was recently selected by the Mississippi Business Journal as one of Mississippi’s Top 50 Under 40.
Burns, a resident of Jackson, is a graduate of Millsaps College where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 2002. After graduating from Millsaps, Burns earned his law degree from the University of Mississippi. After graduating law school in 2005, Burns clerked for Judge John Roper, the Chief Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Mississippi in Gulfport for a year.
Burns, a native of Natchez and graduate of Trinity Episcopal Day School, has been with MDOT since 2006. As senior attorney for the Right-of-Way Division, Burns provides legal advice to the division for acquiring right-of-way for all MDOT projects. He also supervises all of MDOT’s eminent domain cases.
The Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 50 Under 40 program seeks to identify and recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to Mississippi’s overall economic progress. Individuals are nominated by friends or business associates who best know their professional and civic involvement.
