FERRIDAY— A Gretna man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly conducting a drive-by-shooting outside of Ferriday city limits.
The drive-by-shooting was reported the afternoon of May 17 at the corner of Woodmont Road and Levee Heights Road.
Richard L. Johnson, 21, 519 Hamilton St., Gretna, La., was arrested Wednesday on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Vernon Stevens said Johnson opened fire from his car on a Chevy pickup truck when he entered the area.
Stevens said one bystander was near the truck when Johnson opened fire and no injuries occurred during the shooting.
Stevens said four nine-millimeter shells were found on the roadway following the shooting.
After interviewing witnesses, the suspect was identified as Johnson. Based on the statements, investigations determined he was the suspect in the shooting and he is now in custody, Stevens said.
Stevens said a warrant was issued for Johnson’s arrest and he was picked up by the Houma Police Department.
Johnson is currently being detained at the Concordia Parish Correctional Facility with a bond of $75,000.
