Benefit will help local girl in need

One of the great things about Natchez is that this community always comes together to help fellow members of the Miss-Lou who are in need.
Stan Owens and Caroline Holzhauer’s daughter, Brittney, is a native Natchezian in need. She has been in Baton Rouge at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital due to an automobile accident.
March 18 began a harrowing experience for Brittney, Lee Jones, and their daughter, Kayleigh. At approximately 12:30 a.m., this family was traveling to visit family and friends in Mississippi from Houston. They were involved in a motor vehicle accident on the eastbound I-10 bridge in Baton Rouge.
Thankfully, Lee and Kayleigh escaped the accident with minor physical injuries. However, Brittney was riding in the passenger seat and suffered numerous major internal injuries.
Following several surgeries and 14-1/2 days in the Our Lady of the Lake Trauma-Neuro Critical Care unit, she was released to “the floor.” Brittney was recently released from the hospital.
She plans to recuperate in her Miss-Lou home surrounded with the positive, southern love that only this community can provide. Brittney will require intensive therapy as well as intensive physical and emotional care.
We need your help! This young family will need assistance with medical expenses, travel expenses, care for their daughter and all the little details of activities of daily living. Her recovery will be extensive and your open hearts, positive energy and fiscal contributions will be welcomed.
Adams County Search and Rescue, Natchez Fire Department, Vidalia Fire Department and The Krewe of Fat Mama’s Tamales have joined together to help start the healing process.
This community can receive a tasty treat for a paltry sum and begin the restoration process!
Plates are $8 and will include pulled pork, a bun, baked beans and potato salad. A service provided for your convenience will be a drive through pick up for these pulled pork plates. Members of Adams County Search and Rescue, Krewe of Fat Mama’s Tamales, Natchez Fire Department and Vidalia Fire Department will claim your ticket and deliver your meal to your car.
To purchase tickets, you can contact a member of any of the groups. Food will be available starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, on Broadway Street in front of The Natchez Grand Hotel.
For tickets sold in advance, please bring your ticket with you the day of the event.
Checks and money orders can be made to Adams County Search and Rescue or ACSAR, Memo: Stan Owens.
If you can’t make it that day, but would still like to help support the family, you can send your donation to Krewe of Fat Mama’s. PO Box 1191 Natchez, MS 39121.
If we pull together with pulled pork, each person’s 800 pennies will provide not only a plate of sustenance for your soul, but monetary assistance to this needy family. Stan, Caroline, Brittney, Lee and Kayleigh are thankful for you.
