Don’t miss kickball tourney Saturday

On Saturday, top athletes from around the Miss-Lou will descend on Duncan Park for one of the year’s greatest happenings in sports – the annual Leadership Natchez Kickball Tournament presented by Natchez Community Hospital and Natchez Regional Medical Center.

The tournament follows a double elimination format and will feature teams with 10-12 players. The kickball tournament serves as the primary fundraiser for Leadership Natchez. This fundraiser enables Leadership Natchez to donate thousands of dollars to local charities in our community each year. It also brings the community together for a day of fun in one of Natchez’s beautiful recreational parks.

This year, the tournament will benefit Natchez-Adams County Habitat for Humanity, the Wilson Brown Memorial Fund and Parkway Baptist Church Food Pantry.  The tournament will also allow Leadership Natchez to award a $1,000 scholarship to a local high school senior who displays leadership and community involvement.

A food drive to support the Parkway Food Pantry will also happen in conjunction with the kickball tournament.

Food and beverages will be available at the tournament, which will also feature music. Hamburger plates will be available for $6, drinks for $1, and $15 wristbands will be sold for access to the beer trailer.

The kickball tournament is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is open to the public. Team slots are still available, and the registration fee is $200. For additional information, call Jacob Cowart at 601-597-6210 or visit the Leadership Natchez Facebook page.

Numerous generous sponsors have made possible this day of fun and giving back to the Miss-Lou community.

The mission of Leadership Natchez is to identify, educate and inspire leaders to serve our community. The year-long program is operated under the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce and aims to cultivate leadership among professionals in the community. Members attend monthly classes geared toward various segments of the community, including health care, education, and criminal justice, and tour businesses throughout the year. Each Leadership Natchez class also carries out a fundraising event and community service project.

The 2015 Leadership Natchez class is grateful to the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce, our sponsors and our community for continued support for this important program in our community.

Please join us Saturday for what is sure to be a great time at Duncan Park!
