Furniture and jewelry, both new and old
So many items waiting to be sold.
Crosses and metal works, gadgets, and food
So much to offer, and it will all be so good.
Clothes, décor, and so much more
It’ll be like shopping in a giant store!
On Saturday, April 11, the United Methodist Women of Jefferson Street United Methodist Church will host its annual Community-Wide Market at the church, 511 Jefferson Street, in Natchez.
Beginning at 7 a.m., booths located both inside and outside will be filled with a vast menagerie of items that are sure to please the bargain hunters, the DIY enthusiasts, the it’s-time-to-redecorate people, the I-need-a-new-something people, the oooh-I-want-that people, and people who just generally love to shop!
Mrs. Millicent Mayo has done a superb job of getting these awesome vendors to participate in the market this year. She has gotten local vendors as well as reached out beyond the Miss-Lou area; thus, there will be several vendors travelling to Natchez to bring their products.
This year, we will feature booths that include such items as handmade jewelry, gently-worn jewelry, handmade crosses, metal works, wood works, personalized cell phone covers, personalized license plates, pottery, painted furniture, Avon products (both old and new), wreaths, rustic home décor, baby clothes, antique miscellaneous, candles, soap, incense, stools, housewares, kitchen supplies, porcelain, homemade bread, bakery items, canned goods, and multiple booths of garage sale items appropriately referred to as Trash to Treasure!
We will even have an on-site photo booth to document your shopping adventures. Oh, and there will be a concession stand offering wonderful grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, and other delectable goodies.
Betsy and Jim Crawford, Margaret and Allen Brown, and Micki and Joe Hartley are sure to please your taste buds with their grilling talents.
As our vendors have increased in both numbers and offerings, we are delighted to have this opportunity to present to the shopping public such a wide variety of items to sell.
Our hours of operation will be 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. We advise you to come early so that you may have top choice!
The United Methodist Women of Jefferson Street United Methodist Church can certainly be classified as a group of hard-working ladies. We do multiple mission projects during the year, and all proceeds from the Market will be used to help support these projects. There are currently three groups, or circles, of United Methodist Women at Jefferson Street. Each circle meets monthly, and then each month the three circles come together for a joint meeting and luncheon.
The most recent mission project involved sewing clothes for children in Liberia. We were able to create 25 pairs of shorts and 64 dresses which will be hand delivered by Nelda Thomas who has been going to Liberia for medical missionary work for several years.
Other projects include support of the Stew Pot, Habitat for Humanity, the Ebola project, Camp Wesley Pines, Natchez Children’s Home, and five Methodist Missions, Bethlehem Center, United Methodist Choctaw Mission, Moore Community House, Wesley House, and Gulfside Association, all of which are geared toward mission work for women and children.
Additionally, a group does weekly reading tutoring at McLaurin Elementary School.
Please join us in this shopping extravaganza — your shopping quirks are almost guaranteed to be satisfied!
