Come out to area’s largest egg hunt

I have had the privilege of being involved for the past 23 years in the largest Easter egg hunt in the area. This year, we are celebrating the 59th year for this great community event, which continues to be one of the most popular events of the year.

After my father, P.K. Ewing Jr., organized this event, Jim and Diana Nutter and family at WTYJ/WMIS radio continued the yearly egg hunt.

I took it over about 23 years ago and have enjoyed watching it grow into the biggest and best Easter egg hunt for many miles around.

With the help of Coach Whitley, the Natchez Recreation Department and the Natchez Retiree Partnership, this egg hunt will have thousands of eggs and more prizes than ever before. Each egg will have candy or special numbers that will receive prizes.

Thanks again to many area businesses such as WTJY/WMIS Radio, Gary and Phyllis Small at McDonald’s of Natchez and Vidalia, Clark Feiser of the Natchez Retiree Partnership and many others who are too numerous to mention. This event would not be the high success that it is today without the many area merchants’ generous support. It is greatly appreciated.

“Jelly Bean,” our official mascot, will be on hand to pass out candy and prizes. In a day and time when family events are few and far between, I take pride along with Dallas Productions in being able to continue this event for the families of the Miss-Lou.

So, on Saturday, April 4 at 10 a.m., load the kids in the car and don’t forget the Easter baskets. Come to Duncan Park. Everyone is invited. Children ages 1 through 8 are welcome to hunt eggs, and it’s all free with some great prizes.

Come out and join in some good, clean family fun at the 59th annual Miss-Lou Easter Egg Hunt.

Bobby Ewing is the organizer for the event.
