Many to thank for thoughtfulness

There are not enough words to express my gratitude and appreciation for the amazing treatment, sympathy, assistance, comfort and support shown to me by a great number of the people of the Miss-Lou area, especially those in Natchez and Vidalia, on the recent passing of my husband, Charles “Chris” Wolfe.
Chris and I came to Natchez as Hurricane Katrina evacuees in August 2005. From the moment we got here, we immediately felt welcome, and were the recipients of the caring generosity of the people of Natchez and Vidalia.
Since we lost our home in New Orleans, we had no doubt that we would make Natchez our new home. In the almost 10 years we have been living here, we have met some wonderful people and made many deep and lasting friendships.
In the last year, my husband had been fighting lung cancer. In the middle of January, we learned it had spread to his brain and he passed away three weeks later.
I would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff for the care and treatment they provided during his last year, especially those at the Natchez Oncology Clinic and the Caring River Cancer Center.
In the last week of his life, he was not only given excellent treatment, but, in addition, everyone at the Natchez Community Hospital was kind, considerate, caring and helpful. They even allowed us to bring our dog, Tippi, up to see him so she could say goodbye to her Daddy.
I would like to thank those at NCH who delivered so much more than basic service and care. I’d also like to extend huge thank yous to Father David O’Connor and the staff at St. Mary’s Basilica Church for the beautiful service, to the Laird Funeral Home for the funeral arrangements, and also to Tony Nagurski, the director of the Natchez Cemetery, for locating the perfect spot for a final resting place for Chris.
Everything we hoped for in order to send Chris on his last journey came to pass and it could not have gone better.
And to the many wonderful friends that Chris and I (mostly Chris) have made, I can never tell you how thankful he was and I am to have you in our lives. If I were to name all of you, The Natchez Democrat would have to be a much larger newspaper. Especially to our extended family at the Under The Hill Saloon, I would like to say, you people are outstanding!
We were so lucky to have found you back in 2005! And to numerous others who have been great friends and neighbors, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made Chris and me very happy here.
