Adams County Justice Court Cases
Feb. 13-19:
Michael Williams charged with aggravated assault. Case bound over to a grand jury.
Terrell Hall charged with possession of a controlled substance. Case bound over to a grand jury.
David E. Hayes pleaded guilty to trespassing on a boundary landmark.
Whyndi N. Staggs pleaded guilty to false pretense. Staggs also pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property.
Nakia T. Lyles pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.
Eddie Hodges pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance.

Court Cases
Thursday, Feb. 19:
Charles Nations pleaded guilty to embezzlement by a public employee in Judge Forrest “Al” Johnson’s court. Sentenced to 15 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. After serving 10 years, said sentenced is suspended and the defendant shall be placed on formal post-release supervision for the remaining five years with the MDOC. Must pay restitution in the amount of $173,000 to Adams County and $1,000 to the Mississippi Victim’s Compensation Fund as well as all court costs and fees to be paid to Adams County.
Friday, Feb. 13:
Maurice Davis Jr. pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders’ court. Sentenced to five years in the MDOC with four years suspended. After serving one year of said five-year sentence, the defendant is placed on five years formal post-release supervision, which shall be supervised under the supervision of the MDOC. Must pay all court costs and fees in the amount of $422.50 in the office of the Adams County Circuit Clerk within a year after release from jail.

Court Cases
Friday, Feb. 13:
Sarah Hope Thorpe, 36, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor uttering a forgery. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $348. Restitution set at $495.10 to be paid to Natchez Market 1.
Latisha Jones, 40, pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor false pretense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior on each count to run concurrently. Total fine set at $881.49.
Wednesday, Feb. 18:
Marcus D. Winding, 25, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor uttering a forgery. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $583. Restitution set at $100 be paid to Subway on Devereaux Drive.
Bruce Leonard Cauthen, 53, pleaded guilty to fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer in a motor vehicle. Sentenced to 30 days with 22 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Credit given for eight days served. Fine set at $573 minus $200 for jail credit. Must pay a fine of $373. Cauthen also pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia. Sentenced to 30 days with 22 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Credit given for eight days served. Fine set at $593.
Edward Holmes Jr., 61, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days with 24 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Credit given for six days served. Banned from Burke’s Outlet. Fine set at $750 minus $150 for jail credit. Must pay a fine of $600.
Tiffany Brown, 18, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from all Walmart locations. Fine set at $573.
James Fletcher, 58, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from Natchez Market 1. Fine set at $573.
Rita Brooks, 58, pleaded not guilty to felony false pretense.
