Many thanks from Catholic Charities

In December of 2014, Waste Management of Adams County donated a supply of new blankets to our program in their campaign of Blankets Across America.
This campaign originated as a partnership with a non-profit organization founded by Arnold Harvey, a waste management driver in the Washington, D.C., area.
After seeing the needs of the homeless population along his route in the D.C. area, he and his wife created their organization, God’s Connection Transition.
Harvey has been recognized nationally for his service to homeless families through his non-profit efforts. The Waste Management Inc. employees of Adams County donated 60 blankets to Catholic Charities, Inc. for the homeless population in our area.
We would like to say a special thank you to all of the employees of Waste Management for their time and efforts. These blankets were used to assist Catholic Charities Inc., for the 2014 Point In Time count to determine the number of homeless people during a 24-hour period of time on Jan. 26.
Blankets were issued to those individuals counted. The remainder will be used for the individuals who are housed at The Guardian Shelter for Battered Families, a project of Catholic Charities, Inc.
It is also with much gratitude that we, the staff of Catholic Charities, Inc., express our thanks to the Natchez Police Department for their service to assist the staff who went into the community to count those who are homeless in Adams County.
We would like to thank Police Chief Danny White for his assistance with the organization of the event. NPD Lt. Steele was able to assign officer Thaddaus Perry to accompany the staff with their community search and officer Perry was most cooperative in this effort and provided his expertise as well as safety to those involved.
We say a special thank you to the Natchez Police Department.
