CLAYTON A curfew has gone into effect to keep crime down in the town of Clayton.

Clayton Police Chief Clarence Skipper said no one should be walking the streets of Clayton after a certain time. Curfews for juveniles are 9 p.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. on weekends — while curfews for adults will be after midnight or 1 a.m., Skipper said.

“If you are walking in Clayton, we need to know what you are walking for,” Skipper said. “We have had complaints from the elderly.”

Skipper said the Concordia Parish Sheriff Officer would work with his department to increase patrols throughout the town.

“This is to decrease theft, crime and shooting,” Skipper said. “It’s going to make the whole community safer.”

Parents will be held accountable for their children’s actions, Skipper said.
