NATCHEZ — A Natchez woman is asking Miss-Lou residents to help her and others recognize members of the community on Valentine’s Day who have lost loved ones.
Chantel Marsaw, founder of “It Still Takes a Village to Raise Our Children,” and others will gather at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Natchez Bluff for a balloon release.
Marsaw’s organization works to recognize students in the community who have lost a parent, sibling or other family member throughout their life.
The Natchez native said she wanted to do something on Valentine’s Day for members in the community who might have lost their loved one and didn’t have anyone to share the day with.
“I want this to be the biggest balloon release this area has ever had,” Marsaw said. “We want anyone who might have any anyone to come out and let us be a part of their day.”
Marsaw said she will bring a number of balloons herself, but asks other community members to bring purple and red balloons to the bluff for the event.
The group will gather near the bandstand gazebo for the event.
