Receive free seedling on Arbor Day

Adams County Soil and Water Conservation District, along with other local sponsors, will give out free superior loblolly pine seedlings to the public on Arbor Day, Feb. 13.
The seedlings will be given out from 7 a.m. to noon at the USDA Service Center, located at 110 Northgate Road in Natchez.
Personnel from Natural Resources Conservation Service, Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service and the Adams County Soil and Water Conservation District will be visiting elementary schools during Tree Planting Week and presenting an Arbor Day program to third-grade students.
The Adams County Soil & Water Conservation District Auxiliary has announced it will sell ornamental seedlings, from 7 a.m. until noon on Friday.
The following species will be available: Moonglow Pear, Arkansas Black Apple, Powder Blue Blueberry, Tiftblue Blueberry, Muscadine, Purple Crepemyrtle, Pink Crepemyrtle, Dogwood, Chickasaw Plum, Persimmon and Pecan.
The seedlings are “bare root” and approximately one and one half feet in height; they will be individually labeled and wrapped as purchased.
Advance orders will be taken for seedlings until Feb. 9 and they must be paid for at the time you place your order.
The SWCD Auxiliary sale and distribution of pine seedlings will be held in the garage at the USDA Service Center, 110 Northgate Road in Natchez.
Proceeds will be used to support school programs for Conservation Youth Camp, Safety Day, Poster Contest and other Conservation Educational Programs.
