FERRIDAY — Police are investigating the death of a 42-year-old man found Sunday lying dead in a busy street.
Ferriday Police Department officers responded to a call at approximately 7:40 a.m. Sunday from a passerby who noticed a person lying on E.E. Wallace Boulevard near the Concordia Parish Library.
Jonathan Davis, 42, of Ferriday was found dead at the scene, said Ferriday Police Chief Derrick Freeman.
Freeman said other information regarding the case, including Davis’ cause of death, could not be released Monday for fear it would endanger the remainder of the investigation.
Freeman said, however, the department was handling the case as a homicide.
A full autopsy was scheduled to take place today in Lafayette, La.
Freeman said investigators were interviewing witnesses Monday to attempt to learn more about what exactly happened.
Concordia Parish Coroner Daryl Price responded to the scene shortly after Ferriday police. Price declined to release information on the case, referring all questions to the Ferriday Police Department.
