PURVIS (AP) — A Hattiesburg man has been arrested and charged with one count of murder in a Friday night shooting that left two men — including one from Natchez — dead in Lamar County.
Sheriff Danny Rigel said investigators from his department and members of the United States Marshal Service’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Darren D. Lang without incident Tuesday in Hattiesburg.
Rigel says Lang, who had been out on bond from a previous burglary, had that bond revoked in a first appearance before Justice Court Judge Denton Plumlee.
He says Lang then was denied bond on the murder charge and remains in custody.
Demetries Minor and Brandon Nicholson both died from gunshot wounds.
Minor was a part of the Natchez High School basketball team that lost to Biloxi in 2000 during the semifinals of South State.
It was unclear whether Lang has an attorney.
Authorities have not release a motive for the shooting.
