NATCHEZ — A Natchez woman was arrested Friday afternoon after she allegedly stole her boyfriend’s car and wallet before going on a shopping spree at the Natchez Mall.
Melissa Ann Omara, 41, was arrested and charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling, grand larceny, credit card forgery and petit larceny.
Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said the victim filed a report with police saying Omara had come into his house while he was sleeping and stolen his wallet and car keys before leaving.
An alert was put out with local law enforcement agencies Friday morning for the car, and a Natchez Police Department officer spotted the car at the Natchez Mall at approximately 1:30 p.m.
After verifying the tag number of the car, Mayfield said Omara was placed under arrest.
Law enforcement officials uncovered a number of items from various stores in the area Omara had allegedly purchased with the stolen credit cards.
Omara was being held at the Adams County Jail with no bond as of Friday evening.
