NATCHEZ — A woman wearing a mask allegedly robbed a Natchez man at gunpoint who was on his way to the Isle of Capri Casino Sunday night.
Natchez Police Department Detective Jerry Ford said officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the casino’s parking lot on Silver Street at approximately 11 p.m. Sunday.
The victim told police that a female wearing a mask that covered her face approached him in the parking lot shortly after he left his car.
“The woman put a gun on him and told him to give her all his money,” Ford said. “He said she ordered him to get down on the ground, and after he did that, she went in his pocket and took his wallet, which had $100 in it.”
The woman then ran and got into a Chevy Malibu driven by a male before they both drove toward Canal Street, Ford said.
An Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over a car on Government Fleet Road shortly after the robbery that matched the same description of the one from the incident, Ford said.
“We brought those people in because everything matched the description the victim gave us, but it turned out not to be them,” Ford said. “As of right now, we’re still investigating the case, and we don’t really know who it might have been.”
Anyone with information about the robbery can call Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000. Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $1,000 for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.
