Readers helped send Bible back home

After you so kindly published my recent letter, I received a call from Audrey Shields of Johnson City, Tenn., who was ecstatic to claim the Bible which had belonged to her beloved deceased mother, Pearl.
Yesterday, I mailed that Bible to Shields and smile each time I think of how, because of your humanity, I was able to bring such joy to someone.
My heart thanks you and The Democrat readers who telephoned Audrey Shields with news of the Bible. Once again, The Natchez Democrat has stood and delivered.
I am proud to be a Natchezian, to know that the love of neighbor, kindness, and caring of the old South, in which I was born and raised, have survived to this day. God bless all of you at The Natchez Democrat and God bless America.
