Local schools compete in state meet

The Natchez High and Cathedral High boys and girls cross country teams competed in the 2014 MHSAA State Cross Country Championships Saturday at Choctaw Trails in Jackson.
The Natchez girls took seventh place in Class 5A, while the boys finished 14th.
Cathedral finished fourth in both boys and girls in Class 1A.
Kenya Davis was the top finisher for the Natchez girls, taking 30th with a time of 23:23.
Markaja Ramirez (43), Jadelia Ealy (44), Antionette Brown (75), Shekinah Hoskins (76), Israelle Belcher (77) and Tania Woods (92) also competed.
Daryl Jones was the top finisher on the boys side for Natchez in 16th. Lonza Williams (42), Alexander Sweatman (80) and Elijah Boyd (129) also ran.
Caroline Kaiser was the top runner for the Cathedral girls finishing 17th with a time of 23:14. Abby Massey was close behind in 20th, Abby Brown took 22nd, Mallory Claire Dickey finished 31st, Eden McMillin came in 35th, Hannah Mire in 42nd, and Olivia Waycaster rounded out the runners in 43rd.
On the boys side, Jaylen McCoy finished sixth with a time of 18:27. Jay Vaughan took 20th, Peyton Latham 38th, Austin Gibson 40th, Nicholas Waycaster 42nd, Cade Miller 60th and Altman Biggs 76th.
