With the possibility of hosting a playoff game up for grabs, the Ferriday Trojans knew getting a win in their final regular season game was a must.

The Trojans were able to do that, downing General Trass 39-20, to finish the regular season 6-4.

“We had a few letdowns in the game, but overall, we finished, and came out with the win,” Ferriday head coach Cleothis Cummings said. “We just focused on taking care of business tonight.”

Ferriday was forced to try and contain Panther quarterback Allen Bruce, who entered the game with more than 1,000 passing and rushing yards on the year.

“We had a lot of pressure on the quarterback, and that helped us out big time,” Cummings said. “We adjusted our plans according to how he had been playing. He is a special talent, and we were able to limit him. The kids answered the call.”

Another player that answered the call was Ronald Williams, who was inserted at quarterback after starter Shannon Morales went down with a groin injury.

“He came in and managed the game for us in the end,” Cummings said. “He did well and helped us out.”

Cummings said Morales suffered a “minor groin tweak.”

Cummings said running back Dontrell Domino had a big game offensively, while on the defensive side of the ball, Trevion Demby and Dantreize Scott stepped up. Domino had a 71-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Cummings said he is also pleased with how his team is playing heading into the postseason.

“We just have to make a few more adjustments,” he said. “Mainly just personnel. Really nothing too big.”
