“And Mary said, ‘My soul doth magnify The Lord.’
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior
For He hath regarded the low estate of His handmaiden
For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed
For He that is mighty hath done to me great things and holy is His name
And His mercy is on them that fear Him from generation to generation
He hath showed strength with His arm, he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts
He hath put down the mighty from their seats and exalted them of low degree
He hath filled the hungry with good things and the rich He hath sent away empty
He hath helped His servant Israel in remembrance of His mercy as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His seed forever.”
The passage above passage found in Luke 1:46-55 is known as Mary’s Magnificat.
It’s Mary’s exultation of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was Mary’s praise song, bringing the Lord into center focus, evident by her repeated references to He, His and Him. The Magnificat is all about Him.
Ballet Magnificat, America’s premier Christian ballet company, returns to the Miss-Lou to magnify The Lord just as Mary did. It will be an evening of worship and praise through song and dance to glorify Emmanuel, God With Us. This sixth annual performance will return with the popular, “Most Incredible Christmas.”
“Most Incredible Christmas” is a colorful and high-energy Broadway-style contemporary ballet.
The purpose for the annual benefit is three-fold. It will be an uplifting evening of lively music and dance, presenting a message dedicated to the good news of Jesus Christ, while all proceeds go to the Guardian Shelter — the home for battered women and their children. The Guardian Shelter, a subsidiary of Catholic Charities, provides support and assistance to victims of domestic abuse and violence. All proceeds will remain in the Miss-Lou area.
The performance will be hosted at the Natchez City Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 each and are on sale now at The Guardian Thrift Store and The Catholic Charities Office in downtown Natchez.
Those wishing to make additional donations can contact Catholic Charities at 601-442-4579, me at 601-304-1383 or make a donation the night of the event.
Our reviews have been great. We encourage you to bring a friend or bring the whole family. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
