Swimming pool? Let me remind folks that at one time we had a fine swimming pool, people taught swimming lessons, and we had a fine competitive swim team. Over time, mismanagement, politics, shortage of funds for maintenance, lack of security, loitering, drugs and public harassment successfully closed the pool.

We need to restudy our history on this subject. When funds are tight, it’s easier to repair the stucco on City Hall than to repair a leaky swimming pool or replace a circulating pump.
