VIDALIA — Vidalia Police officers completed training courses in the months of August, September and October.
The Vidalia Police Department operates under the Louisiana Peace Officer Standards and Training standards, and is required to have at least 20 hours of training every year per officer, according to a department spokesman.
Chief Arthur Lewis has appointed a training coordinator to seek out the required training officers need and determine the most cost effective way of obtaining this training, the spokesman said.

• Miranda Clifton became an instructor in VALOR Train the Trainer Officer Safety.
• Dennis Cowan, who attended a POST firearm instructor re-certification.

Officers also received training in methamphetamine lab response, active shooter training, traffic incident management and traffic-bridge accident response training.
