FAYETTE — GeNita Finley, the oldest daughter of Eva Guice and Gene Finley, was inducted into the Georgetown School of Medicine during the White Coat Ceremony.
The White Coat Ceremony is an annual tradition marking the entree of a matriculating class of students into the medical profession. During the ceremony, Georgetown University School of Medicine deans and faculty members cloak students in their first white coat as a symbol of the trust being bestowed upon them to carry on the noble tradition of doctoring, followed by their first official recitation of the Hippocratic Oath.
“It is such an honor to be able to join the medical profession,” Finley said. “When I become a little anxious, however, I always look to my heavenly father and my Auntie Clara. “
GeNita is the maternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Guice, Sr. of Fayette, and the paternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gee Finley.
She is a 2007 high school graduate of the Mississippi School of Mathematics and Science in Columbus, MS. In 2011, she received a bachelor of science degree from Millsaps College in chemistry and psychology, and a minor in education. She received a master of science in biology/medical sciences from Mississippi College in 2013.
