On Friday, Sept. 5, I was driving north on U.S. 61 headed to a morning exercise class. It was between 8 and 8:15 a.m.

There was a good bit of traffic, and to my right was an 18-wheeler and in front of me a pick-up truck.

I slowed down as I approached the McLaurin school zone indicated by the flashing yellow lights. To my amazement (and irritation) neither the pick-up nor the 18-wheeler slowed at all but zoomed right through it.

As I approached the Liberty Road overpass, I was so pleased to see three Natchez Police Department vehicles with blue lights whirling surrounding the 18-wheeler they had pulled over. Kudos to NPD!
