Here we go again.

We’re inviting all friends to come to our festive dinner for our First Presbyterian Church’s Missionary Mission, which spreads to Mexico, Haiti, Brazil and back home to our prison ministry, Stewpot, Habitat for Humanity and disaster relief for immediate needs, such as floods and hurricanes.

Our chefs are cooking their gourmet dishes. OK, not just meat — ribs, pork roasts, chicken wings, risotto, pasta, crawfish dishes, gumbo, shrimp creole, red and white beans, green veggies, coleslaw and deviled eggs (yes, George Rutherford does the best!)

We will have valet parking, so there’s no problem with a walk to our site, along with cold refreshments for these hot days.

Children are welcome and encouraged to attend. There will be a very busy table for them with crafts, food and then trips to the pasture to feed the donkeys! And the donkeys are excited to see their friends again! The adults will be sitting under the pecan tree while the squirrels drop pecans on their heads!

Our First Presbyterian Church is dedicated to our Mission Ministry, headed by Chesney Doyle, and myself for International Missions.

We assist Dr. Charles Borum and his crew to Haiti, George and Linda Bates with their group to Brazil and myself with our church members and friends to Mexico.

George and Linda Bates are on the First Presbyterian Church Disaster Response Team and are called upon as first responders by the church headquarters in Louisville, for immediate help anywhere in the United States.

Randy Smith chairs a prison ministry that assists prisoners with visiting their families, plays basketball and other sports with them, sends Christmas packages and holds worship services.

These services have been a wonderful outreach to the prisons. If you want to feel the Holy Spirit, just talk to Randy about these missions. It will bring you to your knees.

We are asking all of you to join us for this “lots of fun” event.

It is $15 per person, with all of the money going to the mission funds.

Tickets are available at the church ahead of time, or can be purchased at the event on Friday.

Our guys are great chefs and love to cook for all of you. This will all take place at 91 Providence Road, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.

Take-outs will be available, and this time frame will get you to your favorite football game for “Friday night lights.”
