Q: What makes you most qualified of the candidates? Why should people vote for you?
Walt Brown: People should vote for me because I have the experience, integrity and maturity necessary to step right in and be an effective County Court and Youth Court Judge. I was in private practice for 14 years where I practiced in the chancery, county, circuit, federal and the Adams County Youth Court. For the last 10-and-a-half years, I have served as an Assistant District Attorney for the 6th Circuit Court District. I have extensive experience in the courtroom having participated in numerous jury trials and having handled well over 1,200 felony cases. Because of my extensive courtroom experience, I am very capable of conducting jury trials and ruling on evidentiary matters. I have the skills necessary to manage a large court docket because I do it everyday as a prosecutor. Three of our local judges were assistant district attorneys prior to becoming a judge. The District Attorney’s office has proven to be a great training ground for judge’s not only in Adams County, but throughout the State of Mississippi.
Lamar Bullen: I am a believer in Jesus Christ and in a moral society where believers believe the word of God. I will seek the wisdom of our Lord in making decisions. I love our children and have three young children of my own, which my wife and I have raised since birth. Helen Bullen is 5. Lucian Lamar Bullen IV is 4. Charlene Bullen is 2. I have been practicing law for 10 years. I have worked in the private sector as a private attorney for Aultman Tyner and Ruffin LTD., Mississippi Center for Legal Services Corporation and most recently for and owner of Bullen Law Office PLLC. I know what it is like to run a business and take a small amount of money given to me by my clients to accomplish an objective. In private practice, I handle many of the same cases and issues that come before the county and Youth Court. I am the only candidate that has clerked for our Circuit Court. While clerking, I worked on civil cases as well as criminal cases and saw many felons sentenced. I was allowed to sit in the courtroom and view these take place. The County Court Judge handles the same type of cases with a small difference in that he sentences Juveniles. I know what is expected of a Judge. This clerkship also opened my eyes to the drug problem we have in our community.
Patricia Dunmore: I am the most qualified candidate because I am the only candidate with judicial experience and my experience in the practice of law. I am presently serving my second term as Justice Court Judge, an elected position. I have practiced as an attorney for more than 35 years, handling all types of cases: civil, criminal and youth. I was a staff youth court defender for more than six years. I developed an acute sense of the need for a stern yet sensitive judge. My track record is proven, because I have served as a judge for over six years. I have always been fair with everyone, and I have treated everyone in my court with dignity and respect. I will do the same as County Court/Youth Court Judge. It is my opinion that every person is a great person.
Brandi Lewis: I am looking at my role in this election as one who is running for the position of County and Youth Court Judge, not as one who is running against any particular person. My focus is on being successful in my campaign and doing the best job I can in representing the people of Adams County as their next Youth and County Court Judge. I believe I am qualified because I have 12 years of experience in both private practice as well as working for the 17th district Chancery Court for the last five years. I am an honest, hardworking person and vow to do what is best for our youth and our community. Through my practice, I have worked as a guardian ad litem advocate for children and have worked extensively in Chancery Court on matters involving the best interest of children. During my years in private practice, my work was centered in both County and Circuit Courts, and I therefore have ample experience in both of those Courts as well.
Scott Pintard: I am the most qualified candidate because I have the education, experience and desire for the job. I did not wake up one morning, read the newspaper and decide to run for judge because someone was retiring. I planned to run for judge for years. I have thought it through and discussed the youth situation with others for years. I know my education and experience have well prepared me for the job. Besides raising my own children, I have represented and defended many children and families. While a police officer, I had many occasions to interact with the youth on the street and try to help. I may have arrested them or just got them going in the right direction, which ever was appropriate. By way of helping our children learn respect and responsibility, I have been active in sports programs for our youth. I have coached youth league baseball, softball and basketball. In addition, I have coached junior high football, junior high girls basketball and varsity football. All my coaching was volunteer level and for the benefit of our children. During the years as a police officer and as an attorney, I had the privilege to be able to consult with Dr. Patricia Pintard on ways to help the youth and families. In my 19 years of practice, I have been a trial lawyer, handling cases from start to finish. I have handled cases in the following fields of practice: personal injury, criminal (from murder to running a stop sign), civil, domestic, contract, corporate litigation, lemon laws, employment, eviction, replevin, eminent domain, oil and gas, custody, child support, termination of parental rights and adoption. I do not believe there is another candidate with the hands on experience I bring to the judgeship. People should vote for the most qualified person who truly desires the position and responsibility that comes with being judge, and I know I am that person. I did not run on a whim. I ran because I desire the position with all my heart.
Scott Slover: I am the only candidate that has dealt with employer/employee issues, has been involved with the budget process, has worked with each facet of Adams County, has been substantial and meaningful Youth Court experience, has experience in condemnation cases and forfeitures cases. I am the only candidate whose experience encompasses the entire scope of the position and comprehends its relation to the entire county government. As great as Judge Hudson’s tenure, I envision a County Court even greater than the one we have. When he took on the position at a similar age, he worked tirelessly to improve it everyday. I am the candidate who is going to put in that same dedication and who will never feel that his job is complete.
