Children should heed ultimate lesson

Good morning, Miss-Lou and all surrounding areas.

Today, my word is a simple one that we all should abide by as we grow old.

Honor thy mother and thy father. Respect for your parents usually means that you have respect for yourself.

First, and foremost, we have some good parents, and we have some bad parents. Whether good or bad, they still should be respected.

When you give your child/children the love, attention, guidance and the best education possible, we are giving them all the tools they need in life to be successful.

But, when he or she knows the difference between right and wrong and yet still choose to do wrong, they’re only acting out because of situations in their lives that they’ve created.

For instance, if he or she is actively using drugs and alcohol, then most of the time they’re not going to be in their right mind. So, they go off and react so bad toward you, you begin to ask yourself, “what did I do wrong?”

As for parents, you want what’s best for your kids. You can lead them to the water but you can’t make them drink it. So we have to scoop it up and help them drink it.

To get past that hurdle in their lives that’s holding them back from progressing and be a better person in today’s world.

Encouraging and pushing them to take it one day at a time.

Getting better and doing better should be their only goal.

Secondly, kids rebel against us because they think that they’re all grown up now and they can say and do whatever they want.

Being grown means that you have matured, and by all means, you are out on you own providing for yourself. Kids that don’t want to do anything for themselves usually use their parents as their crutch, providing housing, money, food, gas and so forth and so on.

If we stop giving in and making them stand on their own two feet, this world would be a better place.

We can’t live forever to protect them, so get it together young people.

We are born to die. All things come to an end. We can’t take back the things we’ve done but we can change our lives for the better.

Thirdly, God knows everything about his children.

You can’t hide this or that, he sees everything and everyone. Disobedient children toward your parents should humble themselves and ask for forgiveness. Give respect where respect is due. Children, you are never too grown to give your parents the respect that they deserve.

Last, God is a forgiving God.

If you turn from your old ways and repent, God will forgive you. Young people, learn about God and remember what Jesus Christ did at the cross for us.

Take up the cross and follow Jesus.
