Community always helps us succeed

Hi my name is Mae Holyoak. My friends and I hosted the seventh annual Mae and Friends Lemonade Stand a few weeks ago for the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society.
I started this when I was 5 years old and raised close to $300 for the animal shelter.
This made me want to continue on into my work to help animals.
Later on in the process, some of my friends wanted to help out. So more people joined, and I just thought it was beautiful watching the stand grow with people who genuinely wanted to come and help support our cause.
In the past years, the amount we raised for the shelter has gotten higher and higher.
Each year we top it just a little bit more.
At the lemonade stand this year, we managed to raise over $13,600, which stunned us all.
We especially couldn’t have done this without the loving support of everyone throughout the community.
I want to give thanks to all of our T-shirt sponsors who all contributed very generous donations. I also want to thank First Natchez Radio Group for helping spread the word and telling everyone to stop on by and pick up a fresh glass of chilly lemonade.
I want to thank The Natchez Food and Wine Festival for letting us be a part of it. Also, I want to thank The Natchez Democrat for the beautiful and heartwarming article they wrote about the stand.
I send out a thank you to all of you who donated or stopped by the stand to come and support all of us.
I want to thank everyone who made us baked goods and things to sell for the stand. All of these people help make it possible for us to be successful.
Please do come and join us next year at the eighth annual Mae and Friends’ Lemonade Stand in 2015.
