WOODVILLE — Gabriel Walker, former chief of security for Wilkinson County Correctional Facility in Woodville, has been promoted to deputy warden of operations for the facility, which is managed by the Utah-based Management and Training Corporation.

“This new position for Mr. Walker is well-deserved,” said Warden Frank Shaw. “He is the consummate professional and has served in many areas of corrections for many years. He knows this facility inside and out and has proven to be an exceptional leader.”

Walker has 20 years of experience in corrections. Seventeen of those years have been in supervisory positions.

As deputy warden, Walker is responsible for the safety and security of operations of the facility.

A 16-year resident of Woodville, Walker is attending Alcorn State University, where he is majoring in criminal justice. He is married to Ina Gaines-Walker.

In addition to being certified as a criminal investigator, Walker has completed many professional training programs.
