Vidalia Apparel reaches major safety milestone

Vidalia — Fruit of the Loom’s Vidalia plant celebrated 10 years without a lost time accident on June 30.
FOTL President and Chief Executive Officer Rick Medlin told employees that 10 years without a lost time accident shows a true commitment from the Vidalia employees. He also stated the Vidalia plant is one of two facilities in the continental United States that has accomplished this major safety milestone. The emphasis FOTL puts on a safe and healthy environment has helped them and their employees get thru 7,205,208 safe hours to date.
Vidala Mayor HyramCopeland presented Medlin and Facility Manager Derrick Means with a plaque to memorialize the company’s safety success.
“With 173 employees, we are extremely proud to be home to Vidalia Apparel, the largest private employer in Concordia Parish,” Copeland said. “Fruit of the Loom has always provided quality jobs to our community, and we are pleased that they seek and achieve the highest level of safety for their employees.”
Concordia Economic Development Director Malone said Vidalia Apparel plays a major role in the community and local economy.
“Fruit of the Loom’s commitment to safety proves their dedication toward a better working environment and we look forward to celebrating another year of safety in 2015,” she said.
Vidalia Apparel is located in the Vidalia Industrial Park off of Logan Sewell Road.
