FAYETTE — Services for Tommy “Tom Cat” Ellis, 51, of Fayette, who died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hollywood Baptist Church with the Rev. E.E. Colenberg Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.
Mr. Ellis was born Sept. 10, 1962, the son of John Frye and Beatrice Ellis.
He spent his childhood life in Fayette, but experienced living in Texas and Florida, where he decided that there is no place like home and returned to Fayette to live the rest of his adult life.
He graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1980, thereafter he worked various jobs, but he loved concrete and cement work.
His expertise is what his mom and stepfather bestowed upon him, and that was cultivating and having the most beautiful garden in the community.
Some friends and family knew him as “Tom Cat,” Hulk and Herman, but he was one who kept joy, laughter and warmth in your heart.
Even though he was visited by the angel of death, he knew he believed in the Lord. The angel of death visited him on the same day death date July 29, 2014, as it did his brother, Stanley, July 29, 2007.
His death brought sadness to his family and community.
Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Stanley Carradine; one sister, Linda Clark; grandparents, Lehman and Iular “Red” Ellis and Isaac and Mary Lee Frye; two uncles, Lehman Ellis and Charlie Ellis; and two aunts, Mary Green and Iular “Gladys Ellis” Stacker.
Survivors include his parents, Beatrice Carridine and husband, George; stepmother, Lillian Banks Frye; two daughters, Shaquita Clark and husband, Rico, of Clinton, and Balinda Combs of Natchez; 12 brothers, Johnny, James and wife, JoAnn, Ricky, Carl, Timmy, Ronnie and wife, Glundea, all of Fayette, Ray and wife, Patricia, of Dallas, John Paul Frye and wife, Rosalind, of Magnolia, Keith Frye and wife, Carol, of Carrollton, Ga., Darryl Banks and wife, Bienca, of Baton Rouge, Robert Jackson and wife, Samantha, and Willie Maurice Thompson, all of Fayette; six sisters, Geraldine, LaTasha Frye, Johnalyn Alsworth and husband, David, all of Fayette, Pamela Cox and husband, Lawrance, of Millington, Tenn., Streylka Hampton and husband, Albert, of Mr. Vernon, Ill., and Viola B. Jackson, of Central, S.C.; four grandchildren; a special niece, Kenisha “Ronda”; six uncles, James Ellis, Foster Ellis, Isiah Frye, Lee Arthur Frye, Calvin Frye and special uncle, Dr. Ronald Frye and wife, Ingal, six aunts, Gertrude Ellis, Mollie E. Martin, Addie Pearl Wordlaw, Christine Frye, Maxine Tillman, and special aunt, Stella Frye; very close friends, David Horace Smith, Robert Tenner and Stanley Harried; and a number of nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Charles Carradine, Jimmy Carridine, Johnny Carridine, Davis Giles Jr., Deliquin James Sr., Marcelus Lowe, Kerry Pree Sr. and David H. Smith.
