VIDALIA — The Miss-Lou Youth Soccer and Miss-Lou Youth Football leagues have opened registration to ages 4 through 14 for soccer and 5 through 13 for football.
The age limits for soccer will be determined by the participant’s age on September 1, 2014, while the age limit for football will be decided by the child’s age on January 1, 2014.
“That’s really the only major change is the kids can play at a younger age in football,” said Mike Bowlin, who heads Concordia Dixie Youth.
Along with youth football and youth soccer, cheerleaders from ages 4 through 14 can signup, as well.
Football will have two main registration days on August 16 and August 23 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Vidalia Upper Elementary gym, where players will be fitted for helmets, shoulder pads and jerseys. Cheerleaders’ uniforms will be sized at this time, as well.
Anyone who plans to play football or soccer or participate as a cheerleader may signup before then and get sized at Hometown Sports.
Tryouts for football will be held at the Upper Elementary playground on August 30th. Tryouts for 8 and under will be held at 9 a.m., 10 and under will proceed at 10:30 a.m. and 13 and under will finish the day off at noon. The draft will follow in the gym.
Registration fee for soccer and cheerleading is $60 and registration for football is $70. Registration fee for football includes insurance.
