SEARCY — Services for Christel E. Thomas, 87, of Pangburn, Ark., who died Saturday, July 26, 2014, in Searcy, Ark., will be at 10 a.m. today at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Henderson Cemetery under the direction of Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thomas was born Dec. 10, 1926, in Germany, the daughter of Fritz and Hedwig Kaminski Gruning.

She retired from the U.S. Army.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Thomas; her parents; and one brother, Siegfried Gruning.

Survivors include one brother, Baldur Gruning and wife, Evelin, of Germany; four sisters-in-law, Charlotte Gruning of Germany, Dorothy Young, Catherine Thomas and Bessie Thomas, all of Natchez; nephew and caregiver, Robert Young of Pangburn; a number of nephews and nieces in Germany, Arkansas and Mississippi; and a number of cousins in California, Germany and Canada.
