FERRIDAY — Services for George “G.W.” Welch, 60, of Waterproof, who died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Harrigill officiating.

Services will be under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Welch was born Aug. 15, 1953, in Newellton, the son of Ross and Ollie Reeves Welch.

Mr. Welch was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Samuel Luther Welch; maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Barbara Reeves; and Paternal grandparents, Mark and Mary Welch.

Survivors include his companion, Sherrie Freeman; one daughter, Madelan Day; one grandson, Brance Day; one step grandson, Braydon Freeman; one brother, Charlie Welch and wife, Dianne; three sisters, Mary Brown, Beulah Goodwin and Lorene Hoover; and a number of nephews, nieces, family and friends.
