NATCHEZ — Lil’ Bill tried to outrun the law, but it was a race he couldn’t win.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. Monday, Natchez-Adams County Metro Narcotics agents tried to make a traffic stop on August Street.
The driver of the Ford F-150 in question, Willie Herman Lewis — also known as Lil’ Bill — allegedly fled the blue lights and sirens, driving recklessly north on Martin Luther King Jr. Road, according to a news release from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
The chase ended after Lewis reportedly tried to escape by taking the truck off-road, getting stuck on a grassy incline, according to the release.
Agents reportedly found a felony amount of crack cocaine and a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.
Lewis was charged with failure to yield, reckless driving, driving under suspension, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, fleeing law enforcement, possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana.
This is Lewis’ ninth drug-related arrest since 2006.
