NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Nicholas L. Lambert, 87, of Medon, Tenn., formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, July 14, 2014, in Tenn., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Services will be under the direction of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Lambert was born Jan. 15, 1927, in McComb, the son of Charles Spurgeon Lambert Sr. and Addie Lazarus Lambert.
He grew up in Natchez where he worked a as linotype operator at The Natchez Times/The Natchez Democrat before moving to Memphis in 1960 to work until retirement for their legal newspaper, The Daily News.
He busied himself with hobbies of wood-working and care and feeding of martins and hummingbirds, who would literally hover around him.
Over the years, he became an expert in restoring antique clocks, calling his service “The Nick of Time.” There was never a clock he couldn’t repair.
He loved the Lord, enjoyed life and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He genuinely cared about the well being of others and gave unselfishly. He was “Uncle Nick” to almost everyone he met, but his greatest joy was his family. He asked only that we “remember him well.” He made that easy to do.
Mr. Lambert was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Charles S. Lambert Jr.; and one sister, Shirley Sue Lambert Sevier.
Survivors include four nephews, Mike Lambert of Medon, Dr. Robert Sevier of Hattiesburg, John Sevier of Greenville and David Sevier of Spring Hill; two nieces, Marcia Lambert Fly of Bartlett, and Cheryl Lambert Ridings of Nebo, NC.; five great nephews, Michael Lambert, James Fly, Ricky Fly, Shane Sevier and Christian Sevier; three great neices, Natalie Lambert Hill, Danielle Sevier and Diana Sevier; three great-great nephews, Jack Hill, Tyler Fly and Ethan Fly; and one great-great niece, Alex Hill.
The family request that any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or a breast cancer foundation of choice.
