NATCHEZ — Melvin Pete has been named the head football coach of Natchez High School.
The Natchez-Adams School District approved the hire Thursday afternoon during its regular monthly meeting.
Pete comes to Natchez after a stint at Gentry High School in Indianola.
Pete also coached at Central High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where he led the Falcons to a state championship in 2007.
NASD Superintendent Frederick Hill introduced Pete as the head football coach Thursday after the hire.
“We have high expectations, and we won’t accept anything less than that,” Hill said.
