A “Find America” scavenger hunt for children ages three through 12 is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The hunt will begin and end at Natchez Coffee Company located at 509 Franklin St. Natchez Downtown Development Association’s 2nd Saturday committee is planning this event with a patriotic theme to be a continuation of the Fourth of July celebration.
Children will look for images of individual states. Pictures of the 13 original colonies and the first few states to join the Union will be distributed to participating downtown businesses.
One state will be hidden at each location for the children to find.
The participating locations extend from Broadway to Martin Luther King streets and from State to Franklin streets.
Children who complete the scavenger hunt will receive a jigsaw puzzle of the United States and a United States flag.
Face painting will be available to children of all ages at Natchez Coffee Company from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. as part of the 2nd Saturday activities.
The 2nd Saturday Jazzy July Art Scroll will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday.
Participating galleries will serve refreshments for viewers’ enjoyment as they browse through the collections of paintings, sculptures, pottery, photography, jewelry and much more.
Looking ahead to Artsy August, Daphne and Salongo Lee will guide children ages three through 12 in creating their own handmade books from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at ArtsNatchez Gallery, 425 Main St.
Then at noon, children will meet at Turning Pages Books, 520 Franklin St., for story time.
Of course, the evening art stroll will offer new exhibits and creations.
